The map
Everything in one place: which gate a feature needs, how finished it actually is, which version it landed in, and where the control lives. The maturity column is the one worth reading, because it is the thing the marketing version of a page like this would leave out.

What the maturity words mean
Somebody printed something with it and looked at the result. The strongest claim on this site.
Finished, in use, and behaving. Not necessarily print-tested in every combination.
Usable and still being refined. Expect rough edges, and expect the page to name them.
The G-code is right when you read it. Nobody has printed it yet.
Confirmed in the 3D preview and nowhere else. Look, do not rely.
Gated behind an environment variable because some combinations can produce bad extrusion.
The four gates
| Gate | How to open it | Why it exists |
|---|---|---|
| none | Nothing to do. | Most of the colour side needs no gate at all. |
| Libre Mode | Preferences › Enable Neotko LibreMode, restart, then the toolbar side button. Full details. | Changes how the slicer behaves in ways that would confuse someone who just wants to print a benchy. |
| True Objects | A separate toolbar side button, which appears once the Libre Mode master switch is on. Independent of Libre Mode's own active state. | Decides whether objects fall, and whether a face resting on a neighbour counts as ground. |
| Libre + env var | Libre Mode active and ORCA_DEBUG_TEXTUREBUMP set before launch, plus ORCA_DEBUG_ZBUMP for Top mode. |
Some option combinations can genuinely produce bad extrusion. The gate means you opted in deliberately. |
How it got here
There is no roadmap and there never was. Things get built when they get interesting, which is why this list reads the way it does.
- 2.3The Sandwich lands: pass stacks, ColorStitch, PathBlend, the Studio, the Painter, Libre Mode, NeoArachne, NeoTower, Align & Stack.
- 2.3.1The wipe tower stays coherent under variable layer height. Adaptive layers × multi-tool × Sandwich becomes possible.
- 2.3.5The Bump Mapping Editor, behind its double gate.
- 2.3.6Precision Adaptive Layer Height: the point-based curve editor.
- 2.3.7NeoWave support. MixedFilament Object mode. The first G-code Reprocessor, and the U1 toolchange cleanup.
- 2.3.8Surface depth and Per color in Pro Mode. Flow, Z-offset and Avoid Wipetower in the Reprocessor. Adapt to Color and Slope Recolor.
- 2.3.9PerObject Support. True Objects and Snap & Drag. Typographic Spacing. Realistic shading in Prepare. NeoStitch, and the NeoWave contact layer.
- 2.4.0The Painter rework: departments, zone chips, Bottom everywhere, highlight active colour, paint visible outside the gizmo, MMU coexistence. RealColor. Bridging expansion.
- 2.4.2Photo Mode in Prepare.
- 2.4.3Height Adaptive Effects. The Snap & Drag magnet panel, and Move selection as one block.
- 2.4.4Photo Mode inside the G-code viewer, with movable lights, cast shadows on the part's own face, and PNG export with the shadow in the alpha.
- 2.4.5Hotends that finished their work switch off, and Extra Energy Save. The wall an overhang lands on slows down too. Support Zones get block trees and a placed foot.
- 2.4.6PathBlend follows your lines on any shape. Patterns keep their size in mm. The Sandwich editor goes: a recipe lives where you paint it. The Painter panel is reorganised.
- 2.4.7The previews cut the model like the slice does. Support Zones get easier painting and a cut tool. Moved onto Snapmaker Orca 2.4.0.
- 2.4.8Stickers get their own tab, with multicolour SVG, gradients and the bottom face. Align & Construct replaces Align & Stack: extrude a face, booleans, parts. Booleans and Split keep the painting. Stacked objects can print with real layers.
Every version has its own written notes in the repository, from 2.3 onward.
Questions that come up
ColorStitch does not apply on some layers
Confirm the top surface fill pattern is Monotonic Line. Then check ColorStitch min. line length, since short lines are skipped, and the Zone setting, since Topmost only applies to just the very top of the object.
Where did MultiPass go?
It became ordinary. Add two or three Solid passes to a zone and split the layer height between them with the dividers. That is the cross-hatch, glaze and optical-blend effect the old MultiPass produced. More.
Where did the Sandwich editor go?
It was removed in 2.4.6. Build the stack in the Painter's Pro department, save it, and paint it where you want it. A project that used the old editor opens with its recipe moved into the palette as From Sandwich editor. More.
My stripes look fragmented across holes
Not any more. Since 2.4.6 every line takes its colour from where it sits, so the two halves of a line cut by a hole get the same colour. Why.
I do not see the Libre Mode button
Enable the master switch in Preferences and restart. The two-key gate.
Do I need Libre Mode to print normally?
No. It is off by default and the build behaves like stock. It only unlocks the workflows on this list.
Can I use adaptive layer height with multiple tools and a Sandwich?
Yes. Enable Libre Mode, set Tower type = NeoTower, and turn on Variable layer height (Experimental). More. Still worth reading the G-code before a long run.
My wipe tower uses more purge than expected
Check Sandwich wipe reserve (default 10 mm³) and Sandwich purge compaction (default 1.7) under Quality › Prime tower. More.
Why do picked colours not show in the Profiles list?
By design. Colours you paint with are working colours, created on demand and cleaned up when unused. Only palettes you deliberately save appear in the list; Save all promotes every unsaved one at once. More.
The MixedFilament Object switch is greyed out
The object's extruder is not a MixedFilament, and the Painter says so right under the switch. Assign one as the object's extruder, then reopen the Painter.
Is Color Painting's Pro Mode the same as the ColorStitch Painter?
No, different tools. Color Painting is Orca's own multi-material painter and Pro Mode adds precision brushing and masks to it. The ColorStitch Painter is this fork's own gizmo for painting Sandwich recipes. Both live in the left toolbar as separate icons.
I turned on Extra walls and the painted area does not have more walls
Check whether the colour you painted with is the same as the object's own filament. Extra walls is skipped there by design, since it would not be visible anyway. More.
My Rectangle or Polygon mask painted the far side too
It should not: both tools only paint faces pointing toward the camera. Rotate the view to confirm what you are seeing is the front-facing paint rather than a leak through the back.
